Sometimes Giving a Gift Turns into Inspiration for a Dream
In 2021 I was looking for an eBook service that would both give the best book recommendations based on individuals (not popularity) & also send eBooks directly to their subscriber. I knew there were plenty of subscriptions that did this with physical books, but for lack of clutter, wanted to find one that would do this with eBooks.
I was looking for this for my sister-in-law as a gift, but I was unable to find a service like that anywhere. So, I decided to take the dive & do it myself.
For a while I would research and choose the best book recommendations for my sister-in-law and send her the eBook of her choice as a gift, but then I realized that this was a great idea on a broader scale and a way to for me to use my passions to help connect others with books they would actually enjoy.
Shelf/e went from being a one person oriented gift, to being a subscription service for anyone and everyone, centered around the idea that the best book recommendations are unique from person to person.
Why would the best book recommendations for you, come from me?
I have worked for over eight years at multiple different public libraries, spending much of my time recommending and sharing the love of books with all those around me, regardless of whether we had the same tastes. Part of being a librarian is learning how to match people with the best book recommendations possible for their unique reading tastes.
I took my passion even further and earned my Master's Degree in Library Science in 2022 from Indiana University, adding another layer to my qualifications.
Beyond that, I love books and how they open up the world and teach new perspectives as well as take you on exciting adventures from the comfort of your favorite cozy spot. I also enjoy writing and designing, giving me another area of expertise to make Shelf/e personalized as well as beautiful.
Reading has always been a passion of mine. I am so excited to share this joy and help connect you, dear reader, to the book that will make your heart soar.
